QUITE recently, ' Constable,- Rimmer, 'believing Southberg's son to be under the influence, gave him the "tipto get away home. : The young "man mentipned the constable's advice to his father, and the latter set out m quest of the constable. McLean were m the habit of reminding him of the fact and threatening to "get him again." ,He> (defendant), had been a respect-, ed resident, of the goldfiields for over thirty, years and that was the first occasion he had 'been m court on a charge of this nature. — • r :, He admitted that 'both he ; and his son had. taken a few; drinks that afternoon.
