STEPPING OUT
Oamaru Goes Into Larger Home (By "The Toff.") The Oamaru Trotting Club has had a good year, and everything «s moving swiftly in* order that the new premises will be ready for occupation m the spring. ALREADY, the three grandstands,! cloak-room and totalisator house have been moved to the racecourse reserve, which m future will be the home of both the Oamaru Jockey Club and the .Oamaru Trotting Club. In all probability the Trotting Club will hold its Labor Day gathering on the new course, which is bearing a grand sward of grass, and, provided the weather is at all reasonable, will be fit to race on m October. < From the balance-sheet just to hand, the Oamaru Trotting Club has enjoyed a splendid, season. An excess of assets over liabilities is shown at £13,537 Os. 7d., whereas last year the club's total wealth was £12,536 lis., and m the interim the club has contributed £326^ towards the cost of the new course, which, when finished, will be complete m every detail. . ' ■ ? - During the present racing year, the. club distributed £3645 m stakes for sixteen races, whioh is pretty good for tho white stone city. Now that the banking account is so high m credit, a further increase m stakes probably will be made. iMiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
