IRON MAN LACHIE McDONALD

- ■ i . (By' Cable.— From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Sydney Representative.) IACH IE McDONALD revenged the knockout defeat Ted Monson scor- ■ ed over hjm two weeks back by decisively defeating Monson over „ fifteen two-minute rounds at Leichhardt on Friday. Monson -stipulated the short sessions, so the middle-weight ttitle was not at stake. McDonald was aggressive throughout a hurricane contest. '•' He displayed no nervousness at tackling Monson again and went' for his man from the first gong. Plainly he wanted to knock Monson 'out. ■ -v ' Ted covered and crouched. He thereby escaped many punches .Lachie let go. at him and played. all through for a hight hand wallop to the chin. In the second session he landed well, but did not shake the iron man from New Zealand. Lachie simply clamped his teeth together and bored m all the harder. He tossed a constant stream of right-handers at Monson and m close belabored his body with both hands. * . During the eleventh Monson went with a will and fairly battered Lachie to the floor with successive rights, but "Mac." was up at seven. Fighting like a demon over the last bit Monson crowded his man, but failed to score a knockout and the decision for McDonald was a correct finding. '•'','.. He made the fighting and landed most of the punches. Monson . afterwards said that he thought he had won, but ho other verdict could have vbeen given. ' On Friday next McDonald, Purdy and Pat. Connors leave for New . Zealand... .'..-. . In, one of the dirtiest contests staged at the .Sydney Stadium, . George Thompson, of Australia, outpointed Jack Elliott, of England on . Saturday -night. v The firsVround saw Thompson butt Elliott and bring a stream of blood from his nose. The injury impeded the Britisher all through arid thereafter both men were guilty on numerous breaches. They hit low, wrestled, butted and repeatedly hit with the inside of - the glove. Thompson was the main offender and Elliott retaliated m kind when the referee did no more than caution the local.
