FLIES 7000 MILES FOR A DIVORCE
1 (From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Sydney Representative.) I^INGSFORD SMITH, hero of the world's greatest trans-oceanic flight, will enter the divorce court shortly to seek release from a wife who could hardly have forseen that there would come a time when the world would ring with her 'husband's deeds, for he alleges that she has deserted him. i ; Four years ago Klngsford Smith, then a pilot with. Major Brearley's • Westralian air mail service, took to himself a wife. Off they flew on the wings of love, but that flight proved to be the least successful Kingsford Smith has ever undertaken, for he has now lodged m the Sydney courts a petition for divorce from Thelma Eileen Kingsford Smith. It will come as a shock to the scores of flappers who have been inundating him with "mash" notes and proposals of marriage, to hear that he had already flown into marriage, and now seeks to fly out of it. At the time when Smith, Ulm, Warner and Lyon were being feted by the Federal Government and the people, and being taken ,here and there, it was remarked that while Mrs. Ulm and Kingsford. Smith's mother were always of the company, the wife of the great flyer was never present. In addition to bagging the honor of being the first man to fly the Pacific, Smith is probably. also the first man ever to have flown 7000 miles for a divorce.
