OLD FORM RETURNS
Seccombe showed a glimpse of his old form when he gained the second goal of the whites. Anticipating the rebound from the shot, he went m to close quarters and drove into the net. That Shore would extend University was fully expected, but that the game would end m a draw was not the calculation of the students. There was little -about the game that attracted, . Hard. hitting and scrappy play being, the most noticeable. North 7 played the best game of the blue division, ' the halves especially, being very erratic. Among the forwards, Philpotts again showed- up. as the outstanding player m a line which seems to be composed solely of individualists.Shore possesses a sound defence. Quick at smothering, the men give their opponents . little opportunity tb open out the play, consequently, a game m which Shore is one of the contestants, rarely rises above the ordinary. Rankin m goal has of late 'been playing well on his game, being backed up by sound defence by F. Anthony and Parker. Among the forwards, P. Anthony and Reid seem, the most effective, the former ranking among the most trickyof the leading stick artists. . . Mt. Eden somewhat made amends for their display of the previous week by gaining the most substantial win of the day over Areta. Areta rarely field the same team.each match, and have little opportunity to achieve team work. L. Carter gave a sound display at full-back.
