DR. HENNESSEY MUST WALK
I AST November, Dr. J. P. Hennessey, a 32-year-old, Wellington medico, had his licence suspended for two and a-half years, his conviction by Magistrate Salmon being based upon a charge of drunkenness at the time he crashed into a tram near the Basin Reserve. On Tuesday of this week he made application fbr a re-hearing, and, through his counsel, Lawyer Olaf. E. Stout, tendered the reason that: the penalty inflicted eight months ago was exacting undue hardship upon him as a medical practitioner, particularly at night time. T Unlike other doctors enjoying more remunerative practices, who might have experienced the same conviction,'he was unable to afford a chauffeur. Magistrate Salmon pointed out, however, that at the time he penalized.
