Belted Pump

MANY cars make. use of the beit 1M driven water pump and cooling fan. Belts used for this purpose have been greatly Improved In recent years, and very little fear of breakage need be entertained. x Even should the belt break, however the car is not necessarily put out of action, as the cooling water will still circulate by thermo syphonic action. The reason for this is that the .pump is not a pump m the true sense of the word, but only an Impeller, and the water can readily pass it even when stationary. On a gruelling run it would, of course, be advisable m the case of a broken fan belt to run at a moderate speed. .
