Motoring Progress In Ten Years In no single way can the development of the motor-car during the last 10 or 15 years to its present state of perfection be gauged better than by the thousands of owners who use their cars regularly, yet have absolutely no mechanical knowledge whatever. THE writer, only a few days ago, A came across a man who had owned no fewer than three cars and had driven nearly 30,000 miles, but hardty knew one bolt from another. About the only thing he could do to the car Was to tickle the carburettor and put fuel and oil m at times when they were needed. In regard to -women drivers, probably no more than one m twelve has the slightest idea of even what makes the car go, and m case of sudden stoppage most of them would be left utterly helpless. The- cars of ten years ago were less robust m their working parts as a general rule, and were more touchy m adjustment. Going back another five years, the owner who had no mechanical knowledge would have had an exceedingly hard time of it, as the pre-war car was a farecow, as tfie late Lord Northcliffe ■would say. <nna.iiHiuiiuuiiiitiiiti.initiiiiii<iumiuHi.uuKtiui.iiiMutiiiraiiimiiuiiiu.uminiii_)unn.itrHuiii. .iiimimin.ii.iiHniiinMmiii.iiriiiniinitifi.iiiiiiiin.imi(tn.itfiiiri.i.nitiin.mn.iii. tiiiri.inm.iniin
