Loves His Dogs
Flattering: ourselves that we are *but seldom idle, we must yet do.f i our caps to R. L. C. ("Campbell") Aitchison, who puts the busy bee to shame when it comes to a matter of industry. Hockey . enthusiasts all over the Dominion require no introduction to Carhpbell, who, since his retirement from' active participation m the game, has spent a lot of time handing out healthy suggestions to the parent body m New Zealand — and also m carrying the worries of the Manawatu associations, m .which he has almost, a monopoly of the premier offices. Hockey, however, is but one of Campbell's loves. To him a cocker-spaniel is as essential as an , occasional whisky and soda to a Scotsman.
For the past twenty years he has bred this, type of dog with considerable success, and now, besides being recognized as one of the New Zealand Cocker-Spaniel Society's judges, he is' a life member of that body. He is also a life member of the Manawatu Kennel Club.
It .'was mainly due to his efforts that whippet racing m Palmerston North has been instituted.
