MAKES HIM SICK AND SORRY

(By Cable.— Prom "N.Z. Truth's" Special Sydney Representative.) THE vastly- improved Lachie McDonald had no difficulty in stopping * Fred Brock at Leichhardt last Friday night. He was a winner from the outset. Brock tried to make a running battle of it, but Lachie would not be hindered by left-hand jabs at the head, and walked through them. His own straight hitting was rarely off the target, and when Brock was hemmed in on the ropes ho was subjected to heavy punishment. In the second session, McDonald crossed a beautiful right to the side of the head that sprawled Brock on the mat. He was sick and sorry, but managed to struggle up at nine, and covered. It wasn't long before Lachie had him on the mat again, and the bell sounded while he was taking the second count. Thereafter Brock stared defeat in the face all the time, but he boxed his way clear of danger until the ninth. Then McDonald's hitting triumphed over him again, and he made another trip to the floor. He came up for the tenth, but was soon flopped again, and, after taking a look at him, the referee brought the one-way affair to a close. McDonald is now billed to meet Harry Casey in two weeks' time at the Stadium. Jack Carroll, welterweight champion, displayed fine form and splendid hitting when he defeated Tom Mclnnes in ten rounds last Saturday night. ' He had the Scot on the floor in the second and was handing out an artistic trouncing, when Mac butted him with his head in the tenth and was disqualified. , ■ . At Newcastle on Saturday night the Irishman, Bob Miller, collapsed during his match with the local boy, Art. Green, and died in the Newcastle Hospital on Sunday morning.
