Whelan is a very aggressive runner and a better man m his position has yet to be found. SILVER IS GOLD F. Silver is the most consistent runner m Wellington to-day. , • Always the same, and a splendidly fit athlete, he can be relied upon to be m the first four of any event from club races to the N.Z.C.C.C. A. l». Stevens does not appear to have retained his dash of last season, but the writer is still very sanguine over his future prospects. •Sinclair, Scottish club's champion novice; will, give a good account of himself, but by reports from Wellington he appears not to have much show against A. Hivon. It remains to be seen. . , G. C. Sherwood. (Brooklyn) is the same old dogged "Sherry," and his club has a competent lea,d.er m him. Porter (Olympic), sprang a great surprise on his clubmates m coming to light m the Philp "Memorial race. Good luck Porter! P. Wilson returned fastest time for the race and "Peter," should be very close to becoming provincial champion this year if R. A. Rose does hot start. . But Rose is a certainty. The only way he wjll get defeated is for him to fall down half .way through the race. A wonderful is Randolph. Andrews; (Hutt VaUey) is rapidly improving and should make a name for himself this season with a bit of luck. GIRLS IN THE RUN ' We have some charming runners this year as the ladies have started negotiations m the Hutt Valley. Running;, there, should be m the "boom with these fair little hikers competing. '•.■;, The /N.Zi championship will be held at Wanganui about the 21st July,, There are not many sportsmen about like "Wally" Ingram, vice-president of mahy amateur athletic and harrier clubs. He gives things a good boost and takes a personal interest m the welfare' of running and sport m Wellington.
