ADDINGTON PROSPECTS
Reviewing Fields For Saturday's Minor Contests (By "The Toff.") The racing at the winter meeting of the Canterbury Park Trotting Club is likely to be marred.
TREMENDOUS fields promise to turn I out for the eight events on Saturday. . ' The officials will have to review the classes; they must open their hearts and give a couple of thousand pounds more m stake -money. The prizes offered at the approaching meeting are a disgrace for a metropolitan fixture, especially m view of the fact that the club has more money than ninety per cent, of the others m the Dominion. The day's sport will kick-off with the Yaldhurst Handicap, which should be Edwards' benefit. He has Secret Link engaged. If the track is m good order, Tot Logan and Lonesome will go well; New Metford must also be considered. Should it rain, Hawkesbury's Pride may win, but on a dry course Tot Logan, .Secret Link and New Metford should go well. On her Oamaru form, N^.n Brent will race prominently m the Peninsula Handicap. Denver's Doll is also on the front; so is Loiterer. Xfter the King George Handicap a crowd of two-mile saddle horses will line out for the Lyttelton Handicap. *>iniiimuiiiimiiiiunimiiiiiimtiiiiiiiiiiMiiiimiiiiimiimii!miinnitiiiiiiiimiiii
The trotter, Kerrwood Bell, is a good stayer, She will mix it with the pacers — and outstay them at the end. Sonoma Star and Mate o' Mine will be the hardest she has to beat. For the Aviation Handicap, Proud Ata will be fancied, but should Audbbell keep on the trot, he will give the opposition a fright. ' v Of the rest of ' the party, Real'" the Great promises to shape best. Everybody is wondering if Direct Morning is going to retrieve his Dunedin losses. After his bad displays at Forbury, people will be diffident about his chance. He will have to be good to remain m front of Vesuvius, Acre and Jolly Pet. In the mile saddle contest, Sahib should go well; so should Arran Chief. On Ashburton form, however, Ruflne may collect the big, end of the prize. if Vesuvius is reserved for the Au Revoir Handicap,- ho will take a power of beating. ... , A mile will also suit' Nantwich, Harold Thorpe and Jean . McElwyn. niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitMiniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiMiiminiiiiiiiiiiiiiimiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiuiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii>'
