TT comes a,s a surprise to learn that the committee of the club has abandoned the idea of holding a oneday meeting m the spring and another one- day fixture m January. " ' ' I Application is to be made for the usual two days m September. . This is a wise decision on the part of the committee, as it is certain there would have been very strong opposition to the club being granted Anniversary Day. In any case, the proposed change, if it had been agreed to, would have been disastrous to the club. The cost of running a one-day meeting would— rapart from the stakes — be almost as high as for a two -day meeting. Then, again, many owners who now patronize the . Wanganui spring meeting, would give it the "go by" were it confined, to one day. It always has, always will be, a dangerous policy to swap horses m midstream.
