Dope Derelict
WITH character blighted— his *" youth defiled— and citizenship seared by the deep scars of crime, Bernard Lux stood m the dock at the Auckland Police Court, a pitiful example of the demoniacal devastations of 'the mighty r Morphine — a lesson to all who would touch hands with the false friendship of drugs.
At the police court, he pleaded guilty to five such offences and also admitted a further charge of having stolen the sum of £4 from the funds of a church.
It was stated by the chief detective that he had just recently served a term of two years' reformative detention. . .
Lawyer Conlan asked for leniency and an opportunity, to send the young man to Roto Roa Island. Magistrate Hunt adjourned the proceedings until such arrangements could be carried out. ,
