ON HIS HEAD

Brigadier Bill Wins , Again As they say In racing parlance. Brigadier Bill won the Wanganul Steeplechase "on his head." W7HEN Jim Bull's gelding won at " Hawera a week previously, he did not altogether make a deep impression and it was perhaps for this reason that Maunga was better backed last week. On racing condition, there was only one to back — Brigadier. As things turned out, it was not a race and the Hawera winner strolled m at Wanganui by twelve lengths. Jumping every fence perfectly and with the greatest confidence, "Bill" was always going like the winner. How well he must have been doing it can be gained from the fact that his rider took him to the front with still six furlongs to cover. It is very seldom that Allan McDonald makes a move like that.. The Auckland handicapper saw the win and it impressed him, for he gave him ten pounds more for the Northern. His weight is now 10.8. Wanganui running would point to Brigadier Bill having a show un; north, but most people are frightened of those three trips over the hill.

"N.Z. Truth," however, Is not altogether afraid.
