JACK POTTS IS CONSISTEN

Daly Arrived After Giving His Backers A Scare

(Prom "N.Z. Truth's" Special Auckland^ Representative.) TT is not often that there are false start* in the trotting game in New Zealand.

Jewel Pointer would last it out once he rounded the home bend in front.

IT is just as well for the supporters of Jack Potts, however, that such was the case in connection with the President's Handicap Thousand on the final day of the A.T.C. fixture. From what appeared to be a start, with most of the others safely on the Journey, Jack Potts stayed on the mark, one of his hind legs being tangled up in his straps.

His supporters appeared to have been left without a ghost of a show for their money.

However, the field were pulled up and at the next attempt Jack Potts left respectably and finally landed the stake because of his great staying ability.

It looked good business to wager that

But "Jack" got "Jewel" in the run home and finally won by half a length. The Jack Potts punters were truly lucky that day, but it was a popular victory. The southern-owned pacer had acted as runner-up in each of the previous big handicaps at the fixture. The sporting public dearly love consistency in horseflesh and Jack Potts certainly displayed consistency last week.

He is a stayer worthy of the name and it would be a bad job for the others if there were three-mile contests at the present day. In his present form, he would make a clean sweep of the lot.
