RUNS NO MORE

Grand Knight Has

Finished

The imported horse, Grand Knight has competed in his last race.

TAKEN to Ellerslie, he was a runner A in the Auckland Cup, but he failed rather miserably.

This was not surprising, seeing that he was asked to be with the leaders in the early part.

.That is not the right place for him to win from — he always comes from well back.

After that race, Eric Riddiford decided that "The Knight" should retire from the turf.

He is to go to the stud and for that purpose he is now on the market.

Failing a private sale, Grand Knight will be offered at auction during Wellington race week.

Costing his owner 2500gns. in England, the stallion has paid his way-^ though perhaps not for Eric as for his brother, Vivian.

It was when the latter held Grand Knight on lease that he made his name — his winning of the Easter and Autumn double at Riccarton being his best performance.

Bred as he is, Grand Knight should make a successful sire.
