SOUNDING THE LAST POST
QUIN'S POST! Four men crept up stealthily and with a neck or nothing 1 endeavor and the agility of constant practice, they went over the top. That happy little axiom: "The better the day the better the deed," must have inspired them, for it was a Sunday. No physical injury befel them, but they suffered in other directions. Magistrate Salmon fined e ach of them £2^ and costs for being on the licensed premises (known as Quin's Post in the Hutt Valley) without lawful e xcuse. The bar was locked when the constable paid his friendly call, and the barman walked outside and pulled .down the window. Exit the four men (sailors off one of His Majesty's warships) . Unfortunately for them, however, the constable had followed the barman.
