CLASSIC ROYAL STAKES

Two- and Three -Year-Old Sprinters Clash At Ellerslie

(From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Auckland Representative.) - . Two-year-olds have had all the best of matters in connection with the classic Royal Stakes decided on the final day of the A.R.O summer meeting.

HPHE records reveal that of the 32 1 contests to date no fewer than eighteen of juvenile age have survived, against twelve three-year-olds and two four-year-olds. Nowadays, the race is for two ' and three-year-olds only, the stake-money attached to next Tuesday's contest totalling £1000— £700 to first, £200 to second and £100 to third. At time of writing, all the best two and three-year-old sprinters engaged at the big Ellerslie fixture are booked for competition. Still, she cannot be regarded as one likely to stay on in, a bitter fight. Probably Staghuhter will have it on her again at the close of six furlongs. When the judge is passed, three to be In the picture may prove to be STAGHUNTER, EULALIE and CHILDSPLAY.
