Pride of Nightcaps
JOHN PURDUE, Nightcaps, is undoubtedly one of the most widelyknown figures in Southland. Scarcely a show goes by without Purdue taking along his collies and walking off with the cream of the prizes.
Scientists have tried for many years to explain why a man who instantly wins a dog's friendship and regard cannot but be one of the most desirable of citizens.
J.P. goes further than that. He takes the most headstrong pup and in an hour has him in that stage when he — the pup — considers obedience is conducive to a pleasanter life.
Yet Purdue never uses an angry word. He will tell you that a bullied dog always scores, soon or late. The kindly way he handles animals makes them, after ,a few days' schoolingunder the Purdue method, worth their weight in gold.
Of course, he is one of the men that matter in the Southern Collie Club. And in Nightcaps, his home town, he is accorded tZiat respect which everyone has for a man who thinks for himself and does exactly what he thinks is best.
