TARANAKI PROGRAMME

Big Acceptances For Fixture At New Plymouth There is going to be no shortage of runners m the various events at New Plymouth on Monday.

UACH and every race has drawn big d final payments and if anything the fields are too big. The local trainer, Ernie George, is strongly represented at the meeting. He will have two m the big handicap and if Hipo falls to take it Mint Leaf will be there to do the neoessary. Most of the opposition may come from Monaghan. In the Huatoki Plate there is a bunch of unknowns and punters can try themselves out on that event. Mellaea was smart last season and she is engaged In the Juvenile. One that has shown Improvement with every race is Te Atiawa. He was second — a poor one, granted — to Episode at Feilding. Tawehi and Troilus may be the best of the home division to tackle the invaders m the Hurdles. Hlghflown and Uralla are two from

the north with chanoes, the former being liked best. Having won at Feilding over seven, Royal Acre with nine stone and a furlong less to cover will carry money m the Stewards' Handicap. He is a pretty good sort. Subdivision has pace and Miss Mercla will be on her home track. Everybody will want to b© on Town Bird m the Tikorangl Stakes. He has infinitely better form to reoommend him than any of the others, the best of which may be Eka. There will be some strong competition for the Te Atiawa Cup. Bisox was m form m the spring and that would win for her. Another likely one is Bright Glow, which defeated Bisox at Waverley. It is quite a good Flying field, with Benzora giving away chunks of weight. He should be capable of doing so. Bonogne and Orcades have been, jn the limelight m recent weeks.
