GREAT CHANCE

Archibald's Prospects In Hurdles (From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Auckland Rep.) The two- mile £500 Girafton Hurdles at Ellerslie on Monday will probably find Sir Rosebery m action again after a lengthy spell. DUT the Great Northern jumping hero *-* of the past will hardly be at his best first up to carry any great confidence. It would seem that Archibald has a great chance to take the prize, for he has been indulging m flat racing and has probably schooled enough to be fitted for the task. Archibald carried 10.7 into second place behind Wedding March m the last Great Northern Hurdles, and with 11.3 was second to Day Bell over two miles on the middle day of th© winter meeting. That form seems good enough for recommendation, though m King's Guard he may strike strong opposition. King-'s Guard has had no hurdle racing of late, though Hannon's horses are usually well schooled and ready when they pounce on Elleralie. Lord Star Is more than a possibility and will be bracketed with King's Guard. Anchor will find this crowd harder than those he distanced up north m the spring, while Red Comet is a winner over hurdles and one of promise, too. Kendal may not relish the hard going, a remark which also applies to Lucullent, while Tinokaha must surely be getting- too old these days to see out a bitter two miles. Dad.dy's Girl can go hard for a bit, but two miles may find Preston's candidate. Old Glenotus has a plugger's chance and never seems to tire of the game. As for Royal Diadem, big things were expected from this chap on the flat, but he never raced up to promise. How it will be over timber remains to be seen. The finish should be between ARCHIBALD, HANNON'S BRACKET and RED COMET.
