Gore Meeting On Boxing Day

(By "The Toff.") All Southland will be agog on Boxing Day, the big attraction being the Gore Trotting Club's annual fixture. THE big event is the Gore Cup for horses that can traverse two miles m 4.36 or faster. The prize is 450sovs. Lady Matchlight is the only Christchurch representative, and if she go« 3 to the post she certainly will have plenty of friends. But whether she can beat some of Southland's representatives is an open question. Her most dangerous opponents are Nelson McElwyn and Firelight, so really the issue appears to be confined to Lady Matchlight, Nelson McElwyn and Firelight. In the Croydon Handicap, Ruby Bingen and Llano might go well, while m the Trial contest Nelbar and Streak should make a fuss of their supporters. The Telegraph Handicap looks good for Berma Pointer, with perhaps John Dee and Lucky Harold m the minor places. For the Mataura Handicap Llano and Jade should be well supported, and m the Final Handicap Lady Match.light, Nelson McElwyn .. and Logan Hanlon should be m the picture.
