BONNY LOGAN A STAYER

Easy Victory In Mace Memorial At New Brighton (By "Th c Toff.") whose pleasure it was to see Bonny Logan perform m the New Zealand Gold Cup at Wellington were on her when she won the Mace Memorial Handicap at New Brighton.

AND those who were not missed a remunerative dividend, for m view of her Wellington showing, Bonny Logan certainly looked a winner at the seaside. And the surprising features of her success were the very easy manner m which she won and the good dividend she paid. Over the last half-mile Concliff took the lead, followed by Bonny Logan, the pair drawing clean away from their opponents. Half-way down the straight, Bonny Logan had Concliff's measure and came on to win as she liked. In her "teen" days Bonny Logan has figured as a sprinter and it is • surprising to see her at this late hour figuring prominently m long-distance contests. Bonny Logan is an essentially American-bred mare, both her sire, Logan Pointer, and her dam, Bonilene, being bred m America and imported to this country -by F. Holmes. Concliff's showing was a good trial for the Auckland Trotting Cup, and

his performance was such as to encourage many to be on him at Auckland. He certainly has come right and is staying on much better than he used to do. Billy Sea, which is again m A. Hendricksen's stable, went a level race and occupied third place. He is evidently back to form and should pick up a stake during the holiday period. Harold Burwood, Doctor Dillon, Stunt Artist, Harry Audubon, Peter Swift and Ouimet all raced disappointingly. Shine Soon was just behind Bonny Logan when he went to a hobble. That was six furlongs from home. Peter Swift had a day off, for never once did he flatter his lowers. Moneysplder went a decent race and should be a better horse for the exer- i tion. Perhaps he will get some of the big money available at Auckland at Christmas time.
