A THRILLING FINISH

Machine Gun's Good Effort In Beach Handicap

(By "The Toff.") N The concluding day of the New Brighton Trotting Club marked one of the greatest day's racing associated with the light-har-ness sport.

EVERY race provided a thrill and at the finish the crowd was sent home dizzy with excitement. _Jackie Audubon scored a long overdue and popular ivin m the Innovation Handicap and Nourma'hal just struggled home m the Shirley Handicap. The much-improved pacer, Taurekareka, won the Waimairi. Handicap rather handsomely from Fight Ever, which went a good race. Nothing had any chance of beating the winner. Kotuku Jack scored again; m winning the Summer Handicap he showed that he is going to be as good as his brother, Prince Pointer. y In this race Epigram was very unlucky. • *

After a ding-dong go all the way down the straight, Rey Logan beat Bob Logan, Bing Boy and Logan Holm. Moneyspider had no difficulty m downing- a field of trotters m the New Brighton Trotting Club Handicap. Escapade made a break half-a-mile from home, otherwise it would have been a hot finish between the pair. A slogging finish for the Beach Handicap ended m Machine Gun beating Queen's Own and Jack Potts. Machine Gun is engaged m the Auckland Trotting Cup and will take a lot of beating. The mile saddle event was won pretty easily by Pan Van, which was a lot of beating.
