AT THE NETS

MacD's and MacK's Show Form (From "N.Z. Truth's" Dunedin Rep.) In the principal senior club match last Saturday, Roslyn defeated Kaituna, last year's premiers, by 9 sets to 7. THE meeting of Macdougall and Clark had been keenly looked forward to, and many players predicted that the Kaituna man would come out on top. Macdougall, however, by steady, accurate play allowed his opponent only 4 games in the set. On his present form Macdougall should do well at the New Zealand championships. Cleghorn, in his game-against Macpherson, avenged his last season's defeat. Both these players provided 'a spectacular game and, although Macpherson made some wonderful recoveries, Cleghorn's overhead work won the day for him.

In her match with Miss White, Miss Pattison played better tennis than she has done so far this season. Miss Pattison had her opponent running about a good deal and on the day's play the Otago champion was certainly the better player. In this match Mrs. McKellar placed the ball well away from Macdougall and thus gave her partner many easy openings at the net. Last season Cosy Dell inflicted on Moana the only defeat they suffered, but this time Moana made no mistake about winning. For the first time in two years Bray and Cleghorn were called on to defend their place as first on the Otago doubles ladder. Guy and Duthie, the challengers, were unable to cope with the wellknown lobs of the Otago champions, who eventually won 8-6, 6-3. Fulton, partnered with B. Boddy, of Christchurch, intends defending his title of South Canterbury doubles champion. .It is interesting to note that for the past four years Fulton has won this championship each time with a different partner.
