AT THE BAY
(From "N.Z. Truth's" Hawkes Bay Rep.) That speedy mare, Hathor, has joined up again with Tom Quinlivan's team. She has been hacked about for some time, but carries a ton of condition. • * * Home punters did not bother about Aston the first day of Woodville, but on the Thursday, getting the wheeze, they were on to a man. * * # Royal Court haa been put aside until the autumn. Quinlivan's colt held on lease is a likely sort. # * * Plain Sailing is now trained by Owner H. R. Peacock on his ranch, and might do better on this treatment. Waipukurau will see her reappearing on Boxing Day. # * * Luke Wilson goes to Auckland with Raasay and Torquil. Despite the latter's failure at FeJlding he will be hard in the hack races up north. * * * A promising sort in Gesto, halfbrother to Tiega, will make his debut in the juvenile race at Awapuni. He will be accompanied by Gannymede. • • • Very satisfactory nominations were received for the H.B.J.C. summer meeting. W. R. Kemball gave a very big entry. • # * Cloyne could not have been ripe for Woodville, but she will keep for a later day. Her poor showing was a surprise to track watchers. # • • Braeman, a little while back, gave promise of being a fair sort. His recent showings, however, discount this entirely. *• • » Of all the local sprinters In the Auckland Railway, Cimabue is the one sorted out. PLATETORM Macroom Shows It Was Correct (From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Auckland Rep.) Takapuna Plate placed _ form usually works out true and it was so in the case of Macroom. HOWEVER, few participated in the good dividend returned by Mick Carroll's chestnut when she took the open sprint at Taumarunui last weekend. She is evidently useful on her right day and was always one of the leaders. Once round the home bend her youthful horseman kept her going till the post was passed. Mick Carroll is evidently going •to reap much greater dividends with the daughter of Archiestown than with Paganelli. Macroom must be better than generally given credit of being.
