SOME TRIO TO TACKLE
Brilliant Three-Year-Olds In The Railway (From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Auckland Representative.) It is not often that such a trio of brilliant three-year-olds promise to contest the Railway as Cimabue, Gascony and Paganelli,
IT oan safely be stated that all three have a large army of admirer s-r—----the ante-post betting is the proof of that. There are several others of similar age engaged, but none with such brilliance. With doubts about Kiosk being a likely starter, there is .solid support forthcoming, for only one other candidate away from the.younger division' mentioned. The candidate referred to ib Aussie, which has already proved himself a sprinter of class. But to get back to the three-year-olds, it is interesting to note that Paganelli, which earned less money than either Gascony or Cimabue as a two-year-old, is called upon to carry the most weight. On the other hand, Gasoony, which won most of the trio, is In receipt Of poundage from the other pair. The reason for the variation in poundage . between the trio is plain. . Paganelli's brilliant second to Aussie this spring -at Elterslie and his easy victory at Takapuha gave the.
handicapper a line on the improvement made in his case. fr'hen when the handicaps were Issued Gascony had already suffered public defeat this and Cimabue \ had not made an appearance. iTherefore, Gascony came off best, 'while up went Cimabue from his original poundage when the handiqapper realized he was still good enough to '* score—though only over a moderate Jot at Woodville. , .. f It is known Gascony is Just coming right again, but while he rattled off she in 1.13 last week, it is also whispered that Paganelli scampered over five furlongs in less than.a minute. , It is known, that Cimabue showed , almost unbelievable pace at one stage of the last Avondale* All Aged Stakes, so with such a brilliant trio likely to u be pitted against each other on Boxing \ Day there is going .to be something ,\ doing—lf it chances to be a one-divi- ,+ slon affair!. > There are plenty.of enthusiasts up ~ north who contend the more seasoned \"t and brilliant Aussie will be there- » the trio beat themselves. J >x But.will they? Given a fine day, the Railway $ Handicap of 1927 should be wprth > going miles to witness. £
