Te Awamutu Cup Puzzle

(From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Auckland Rep.) Punters at Waipa on Saturday are set one of the toughest days ever known to sort out winners. TT is going to be especially hard when ■*■ it comes to making a favorite for the Te Awamutu Cup,'of ten furlongs. It is admitted that Te Monanui is the real horse of the party, but with 9. 12 to carry and a field of 18 to battle against he will need to be favored with- all the luck in running to" win. - Te Kara has his fair share in 9.0, though it is said of him he is coming back to his best. King Lu with 8.4 will be dangerous in Tinker's hands after his Takapuna victory, while Delightment on the. same mark can be expected to be in the picture. Mosaic has another chance here, while Pegaway is going to do things shortly as he- did last season. If Phaola's Alison Cup victory was genuine, she has', a great show at 1 7.11 to carry on the good work, while'on the same mark Eden Hall is getting down, though not so good as of old. v •'.'. Transformer \ would' give it a shake with his drop in poundage—that is, if right on the day, while Gala Day can run out ten furlongs with 7.7. Mint Leaf is a bit bulky to be suited by the track, while Papatu is at home on his own track with 7.1 and should be in it at some stage. Desert Glow threatens to come back, but the others are not always , genuine.
