GLOOMY DEAN?
ALBERT EDWARD DEAN took : the wrong road when he headed tfor New Zealand. Recently but landed from the steamer In Wellington, he is now in reverse gear to the land of the Kangaroo and wattle. Chief Detective Ward describes him as a prohibited immigrant in that he is not two years a citizen out of one of His Majesty's prisons jn Australia. He was also consorting with people o,f doubtful character here. » Apprehended under suspicious circumstances a few days ago- he was promptly charged with being an ' idle and ' disorderly person without visible means of sup-, port. This indictment, he pleaded guilty to before Magistrate Page in the Wellington Police Court. ■.. , Lawyer A. B. Sievwright said prisoner was prepared to catch the boat back the next day—such a worthy proceeding being quite agreeable to the police. Magistrate Page remanded Dean for a week and ordered that hj» be placed on the boat in the meantime.
