BILLY GLENN'S DOUBLE
(From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Auckland Representative.) It was up to Billy Glenn to experience the winning turn which came about on opening day at Takapuna.
t riCTORIES were registered by both V The Immigrant and m the Shade. i The Immigrant has long been known to possess the right pace, but he has proved a very hard horse to train because of unsoundness. In fact, his enlarged knee would make punters think hard before supporting him. _
However, he did the trick for the first time a» • stx-year-old last Saturday.
If Jamieson can keep him on his pins he may add further to this win. The price he returned among a
maiden class was fairly good for a horse hailing from Jamieson's stable. In the Shade broke his spell of outs ac a three-year-old when he also carried Glenn's colors to victory the same day.
The fact that he was out No. 13 at the peg did not stop .the public from making him a solid favorite. He proved the goods over the last bit of seven furlongs, though Awarere made him go 1.27 on the turning track with only half a head between them. Still, In the Shade was going on well enough to suggest that he may even- , tually turn out a reasonable stayer.
