Question Time For Agent F. M. Quigley

URANK MAE,TIN QUIGLEY, commission agent, is one of the bestknown men m Hastings. Some men achieve notoriety whilo others are having it thrust upon them, but Quigley follows his own initiative.

TpWICE m three years has Commis- ■*• sion Agent Quigley faced the

spectre of bankruptcy. The first time he emerged with colors flying, but on the second occasion— the other dayr-he drew the crackling fire of pome of his sharp-shooting creditors.

In his pprepna-1 Btartement, Frank told the atorjr of a busineos lost through the slump *nd pressing creditors, etc., but he didn't mention Anything about the valueless cheques , with which he had .been concerned. Instead, he assured the creditors that they would eventually all get paid m full.

The ball was kicked off by Official Assignee G. G. Chisholm, who wanted to know what Quigley's earnings had averaged during the last ,two or three years.

Bankrupt replied that he was discharged from his first bankruptcy m June, 1925, and since then he had not averaged more than £120 to £125 per year. Financial assistance had been given him by his brother.

Official Assignee: Well, don't you think that after your previous bankruptcy, you ahould have taken your coat off and got to some other work. It is evident that you are not a auocesa as a commission agent? — I was making a lot of money at one time.

What about the valueless , cheques attached to these proofs of debts. In ten proved claims there are Beven valueless cheques attached? — I was paying money into the bank at various times and I expected to meet them. I never deemed to be out of trouble. •
