Dr.H. T.J. THACKER IS PARTICULAR
MEW ZEALAND'S one and only n Dr. H. T. J. Thacker has been getting into hot water again. Wittingly or unwittingly, the doc's penchant of recent years has been notoriety.
Recently he was particular about the exact position of his car on the roadside m one of Christchurch 's leading thoroughfares. His .benzine bus blocked the tram line and delayed many punting enthusiasts from an early fulfilment of their desires.
It is presumed that the doctor was m a very irascible mood on
this particular race day, for when asked by the tramway motorman to move his bus he told his chauffeur to stay where he was. Nor could a representative of the law make the man of medicine — and other things — see reason. Seeing that the doctor had left his discretion behind him on this particular day, . the magistrate used his m the Christchurch Court and fined him £1 for abetting Gerald Wood, the chauffeur, to commit a breach of the by-laws by fouling the tram track. "Wood was convicted and discharged.
