INVENTORS, NOTE!
Scope For Pure Oil
Indicator
Inventive genius as applied to motor-cars is at a discount just now, but there are one or two useful gadgets which could, well be fitted to every car. ANE of these is what might be termed an oil condition indicator, for want of a better name. This would consist of twin glass tubes fitted to the side of the crank-case, one containing the oil m its pure state as placed m the engine, and the other oil as actually j circulating through the bearings.
Both would need screw or spring caps to enable them to be cleaned out when necessaryi and for. the oil m the "pure" tube to be changed if a change from one type of oil to another were made.
The motorist would then be able to tell at a glance the . condition of his oil compared with what it was like when new, and thus act as a safeguard against the use of the filthy sludge that is made to do duty with some owners who are either ignorant or careless of the damage they are causing.
There is a chance here for some bright New Zealander to make an honest hundred or two. The oil companies would certainly welcome the advent of such a fitting.
