THOUSAND-POUND JELLICOE
Cardinal Logan's Bright Prospects
(From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Auckland Representative.) The thousand-pound Jellicoe Handicap for Otahuhu T. 0 spring fixture has not filled as well as expected.
IT is satisfactory, however, to find two of the principal handicap victors from the big Addington fixture among the number. The presence of Cardinal Logan, which finished second to Kohara m the .New Zealand Cup after meeting with some intemiption, should prove some sort of an attraction. As a matter of fact, the prospects of Cardinal Logan capturing the Jellicoe Thousand at Alexandra Park on 'Saturday appear very bright on paper. He remains on his original handicap, while — by reason of victories at Addington last week — both Tom Thumb and the consistent Jewel Pointer have been placed back on. 60yds, within
[ 12yds of Cardinal Logan, and this start may not prove sufficient on Saturday. At least, that Is what Cardinal Logan's second m the N.Z. Cup indicates. The trio mentioned is good enough to ensure spirited competition, while j Sea Pearl cannot be entirely counted out on 84yds, for she usually shows her best up north. Black Lila may make it merry for most part, while Holly Boy and Anselm will have some admirers. First Carbine has. not proved payable for' some time, but one with his speed is always liable to come back. Still, it really looks like Cardinal Logan taking the big end of the purse.
