ON THE RAILS
Owner's Grievance At Whangarei
Never before were so_ many races won by openings being left on the inner than at the' Whangarei fixture, though it is not suggested that all the openings next the rails were purposely arranged.
LJOWEVER, it is going the rounds *"* that at least one owner, whose horse lost a sprint event by being carted out — thus allowing the winner to come through next>the rails — held the belief that all was not m order. "N.Z. Truth" would not go so far as to believe that the horseman concerned was a party to. any irregular business m the particular event referred to. There is no doubt about the fact,-, though, that if the opening had not presented, itself, the aggrieved owner would have been .credited
with a win instead of a second
The wonder is that the Press never heard of certain questions being asked regarding the. many openings which presented themselves next the rails. Perhaps some questions were asked and not passed on to the publio.
