SUMMER TIME APPROACHES
Heavier Oil Required For Crank-case
With the approach of the warm weather owners will now need to give their oil question some attention. During the winter m most cases a lighter oil has been used, but with the warm weather it will be advisable m these cases to make use of a heavier bodied oil. ■/
WHEN the change over is made it should be' done thoroughly, as much as possible of the old oil being drained out. This job is by far best done when the engine is really hot after a good, sharp run. .The drain plug should be removed, and the oil run out with the engine idling over and the engine should be kept moving slowly until the oil gauge shows zero, and about half a minute afterwards. The plug should be left out as long
-as possible; if it can be left out overnight all- the better. When the change, over to the heavier oil is completed, it might be found that starting on odd cold mornings which might be experienced will be difficult. To avoid this, until the hot weather sets m, it is advisable before shutting the engine off the night before to allow the last four or five revolutions to be done with the, choke pulled out. This will ensure an easy start, despite the heavier oil.
