Picture Pioneer

ANE of the pioneers of the travelling v motion picture show m New Zealand was Edward Montgomery, whose "Kinematograph Company" toured both islands for many years. In conjunction with his film, "Monty" travelled a concert party of four people, including the Misses Hargood, soprano vocalists, and Bob Hall, a first-class comedian, who is now m a commercial enterprise m Masterton. In those days the "illustrated song" was much m vogue, and Montgomery himself filled this portion of the bill, with Walter Monk, now one of J.C.W.'s advance managers, operating: the projector. Monty is settled m Sydney, and recently Ettie Hargood's name was programmed m connection with a broadcasting entertainment m the same city.
