IN GOLD CUP

When Limerick Meets

Agrion

There is just a possibility that Limerick will get some sort of a test m the Stead Gold Cup on Saturday. DRIOR to last Monday's Derby, the Stead Gold Cup race looked the best of good things for' Limerick, but now — with Agrion back to form — he may toe made to gallop. In the spring, a good three-year-old has very much the best of the weights under the weight-for-age scale and he can generally be relied upon to more than hold his own with the older horses. Thus, 'on. Saturday, Agrion, with--7.12, and Limerick, with his nine stone, may give the public something to talk about. The race that Agrion had m the Dei-by would, work wonders with, him, for he is "a gross colt and looks the type that wants plenty of work. That being so, after his Derby race, he can be expected to show even better form. . Limerick, with all his Sydney successes to his credit, will, of course, be the favorite — and quite rightly so. ' It is not anticipated that he will be beaten, but the race should show one poflnt very clearly — how New Zealand three-year-old form compares with Australian. Limerick easily beat the three-year-olds he met m Sydney. His task on Saturday will not be so easy.
