SECOND WIN

Trowern's Punch

Prevails

(By Cable.— From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Sydney Rep.) Reg. Trowern scored his second win since returning to Australia when he stopped George Pringle at Newcastle last Friday. THE New Zealander was never A troubled. He hit too hard for the local lad. In the three opening rounds Pringle's speed saw him shade the visitor. Trowern's body hitting was too telling m the eighth and Pringle was down for seven. In the eleventh he was all m on the ropes and fell. He rose at eight, was down again, and the towel came m as the referee crowned Trowern. The bout should improve Trowern as he looks as though he needs a few contests to reach his top form. He is now scheduled to meet Tom Fairhall at the Sydney Stadium m two weeks' time, and the pair ought to provide a first-class battle. On Friday, Lachie McDonald makes his initial appearance at Leichhardt when he meets Gordon Kiely, of Melbourne. Mike Flynn was given no set-up last Friday at Leichhardt m Tommy Barber. Barber is easily the best puncher m the feather division and m the two opening rounds it looked as though Michael would be stopped m short order. He, however, weathered the storm, got his bearings and fought well to the finish, Barber winning on points. It was Flynn's first fight for two and a,-half years and he will certainly do better m the" future. Charlie Purdy has had his caulifiowered left ear operated upon and will be unable to don a glove for about tin cc weeks yet.
