The outstanding features of the second day of Thames were that both Nancy Lee and Branson carried on their winning records. BRANSON simply cantered home m the Parawai Handicap, making his fourth successive win. It is clear that he will head oft' a better cla.3S. Gala Day upset calculations when he lasted long enough to defeat the finishing efforts of both In the Shade and Mosaic for the Thames Plate mile. The fact that 1.38 1/5 was registered indicates that the son of Quin Abbey is no back-number yet awhile. Solferite has been responsible for a lot of solid work and it is quite on the cards that he will effect a big surprise on Saturday. Jack Pearson usually has something dry up his sleeve.
