He can stand racing too, and seems sure to come good later on. # # * Town Bird's poundage beat him at Te Rapa, but he still has the riglit speed. In a race like the Takapuna Plate there is no handicapper. to worry over. The conditions are "set" weights. # * # Athenry is always liable to take a welter when freßh. His w,as a good effort after getting left first up at Te Rapa. He headed everything off but Dayg^iard, which is of better class. # # # There was determination on the part of Taurimu when he took the Frankton Handicap at Te Rapa. # # # Mt. Marta found the hard going against him at Te Rapa. # # ♦ Slump is still ordinary, and may be tried over the big country. ## • # Frank Tutchen produced a maiden called Young Pretender at Te Rapa which threw out the signal that it will win later on. # # * Auriculus was allowed to return a false price m the Trial at Te Rapa. There was not a great deal m the showing to indicate that she will go very far m the stake-earning line.
