NO DISGRACE
Big Weight-f or- Age Disadvantage (From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Auckland Rep.) Though Paganelli suffered defeat m his only sprint engagement at Te Rapa, he was by no means disgraced. TN fact, he ran right up to his best x and suffered defeat by only half a length over six furlongs, run m 1.13 2/6, after being responsible for the pace set. Paganelli was beaten by a horse which proved capable of winning hia last five engagements last season, with Paganelli meeting that horse (Valkon) on a weight-for-age disadvantage of no less than 201bs. Paganelli went under, but nevertheless ran right up to the form displayed when Aussie defeated him at Ellerslie a fortnight before by a neck m 1.14. Had Paganelli not been worried by Nancy Lee m the middle stages he would probably have had enough left to stall off Valkon's finishing challenge. Punters lost a percentage of their chips, but it will come back later on.
