NOT IN CUP

Why Royal Mint Will Be Absent (From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Auckland Rep.) The absence of Royal Mint's name from the N.Z. Cup payments was the result of a misunderstanding between owner and trainer. TT was fully intended that the son of Catmint should take his place m the big event at Riccarton. However/ the hard tracks down south may be better avoided. Royal Mint went a bit wide at the home turn' m the "Waikato Cup, but he was going on strongest m third place at the close. Certainly he keeps on throwing out indications that he is one of the few real stayers racing at present. If he can be »kept right, he should be one of those looming- up at the close of any two-miler he takes on.
