VETERAN HEAD
AWAY down m Timaru — you've heard of Caroline Bay, no doubt — there's a man who looks upon the passing of the years with no fear. For O. D. Flamank has the keen eye, the firm, steady tread and the same bright outlook on life which character- . i^ed him ten, twenty, thirty and, perhaps, forty years ago. After moulding the young minds of two generations, he is now enjoying a well-merited spell. Rest assured he goes about his leisure with that same eagerness which was always a feature of his work. To-day, all over New Zealand — and m other countries, too — there are hundreds of men and women, who, when thinking- back on their schooldays, recull, with more than a little affection, the wonderful kindness, yet i-igid discipline, which enabled this veteran headmaster to bring out the best m every child. Flamank is resting back on his oars now. Spurred by his example and his big heart, most of his ex-pupils have attained success and happiness. No wonder- O.D.F. is a happy mortal.
