A GREAT FEAT
Five Wickets With Five Balls
j (From "N.Z. Truth's" Taranaki Rep.) The Hawke Cup holders are looking ' forward to some keen cricket this year, and the arrival of Wilson, the coach from Yorkshire, is expected to liven up the game. POLE, the champion bowler, has given up the game, having gone back to the farm, whilst Clarke, the fast bowler, is a doubtful player this season. However, Kingston, Lash, Naismith, Lay, Cheevers, Penny and Co., are all available. j There is also some likaly-looking [talent in H. Donnelly, of Eltham, who opened on Saturday by scoring 84 not out. He also took 6 wickets for 21, spreadeagling Stratford, who sadly missed Cole. Dr. Hocken, of Kaponga, put up the great feat of securing five wickets with five successive balls, so that Excelsior had no hope. Thanks to the keen fielding of the boys, Hawera High School put it over Manaia. Thus three of the new teams won their first competition matches. The other two new teams, Old Boys and Patea, were not so lucky, getting badly beaten by Okaiawa, last year's champions. This team has a great trio of allrounders in Penny, Thomas and Nudlandsi
