Lady Desmond appears to be the popular pick for the Waverley Cup, to be run next Monday. * # # Mandane has not had a face this season, but she is very well and will beat more than will beat her in the Wainui Handicap on Saturday. * # * T. Tito will ride Benzora and Vivo In their engagements at Trentham on Saturday, and be back in Waverley for the Monday's racing. * # # Shining Armour has an enlarged hock, and this will keep him out of his Waverley Cup engagement. Y« * * Avro was to have accompanied Shining Armour to Waverley, but will probably now form one of Tilley's team for Riccarton, to run in one Df the hack events. * # * . Anchor has been allowed to drop out of his Trentham engagements and will race at Waverley, where he will be more at home so far as company is concerned. **■ • * Laughing Prince probably will show hy his running at Trentham and Riccarton that his form in the G.N. Guineas was all wrong. That the colt got some dirt in his throat in that event is the opinion of both P. Tilley and "Snowy" Morris, who says his mount started coughing in the race. *•. * * Mask will be meeting Star Stranger on 41bs. worse terms in the Wellington Handicap than when they dead-heated in the King Edward Memorial Handicap, so that Star Stranger looks to bave the best of matters on Saturday.
