Holmes' stable, went a pleasing race at Methven, where she had only Quality m front of her at the finish. She is a three-year-old by Author Dillon and appears to have the makings of a pretty fair pacer. * * # Prince Audo is a promising pacer. He has a pleasing way of going, and when seasoned he should keep the pot boiling. * * # The three-year-old gelding Sabatini, by Author Dillon from Pearlchild, made his debut at Methven. He .was a bit green but did his work well. « * # Taipoiti looked like clearing away with the Drayton Trot • at Methven, but after having a useful lead at the bend for home he weakened m the straight, made a break, and had to take second money. # * # Quickfire left his feet badly during the Drayton Trot at Methven and fell back m the ruck. That was at the. bend for home. * * * Lord Tracey is an expert breaker and catch again kind of a trotter. He loses when he misfires m his gait, but does not lose any ground. By this mixed display he won the money at Methven. f # * Jimmy Chimes is now trained by H. W. Black. He got on the journey well at Methven, but never looked like getting any money. # • * * s Prologue is a lazy customer. His driver was at him with the 'cane a mile from home at Methven and then he got second prize. * * * Colene Pointer won the Methven Handicap like a real mare. She is a good-actioned pacer 'and though tested m the stretch she won going away at the end. • # • Bay Nut has improved a lot this season and can be pegged as a winner of a two-mile race later on; * * * Acre had every chance m the Methven Cup, but, after being well placed for ten furlongs, he began to knock up and was beaten to a frazzle a long way from home. # • * Toicks has improved m manners and is developing some ability as a pacer. He was m the thick of the fight for a mile and three-quarters m the Methven Cup. Orphan was a big disappointment m the Methven Cup. Though well fancied he never once promised a dividend. # * • Kate Thorpes gave a glimpse of her old form m the Methven Cup and looks to be on the way to victory. # # #■■ King Pointer had Albert Hendriksen doing his best all the way down the straight m the Methven Cup, but after all the fight he had to accept second money.
