The DEADHEAD'S DIARY
HUMPHREYS SHOW
"nEADHEAD" hates to think how man}' years it is since he first met Humphrey Bishop and most of the talented crowd with him who opened at the Grand Opera House, Wellington, last night. Humphrey may have- gone a little thinner m his ; thatch m the intervening, years, but there has been no waning m his qualities as a musician and able "producer of first-class entertainment. •He still swings a baton with verve and vigor, arid keen artistic sense. ■With him m the present show are a
capable . crowd of performers. "Scratcher" Ross, Dan Flood and Walter Kingsle3 r are ace high m their particular line of business. As for the ladies . and the ballet — well, here's cheers. A good show it is, Humphrey. * * • - •' "TIN GODS" THE feature attrac-
tion at the Regent Theatre for the com- .
ing week is "Tin Gods," wherein Thomas Melghan returns to the screen m one of his best roles. The picture is said to be the best m which the stai' has so far appeared. On the vaudeville side of' the programme is Clement May, the English character actot:, who will give some delightful > sketches from diaries Dickens' novels. May's impersonations are the real thing.
MORE FROLICS
A LITTLE bit o' song, and a dance or 'two; that's the stuff m modern revue. But Dawe and his Frolics, between me and you, take the bun and the biscuit,- too. Theirs is a show with •plenty of pcp — the best little bunch of entertainers yet. With Eric and Clem and Leslie White, His' Majesty's full now every night; and the cry of the crowd m mood so bright, is: "Good on une Frolics — you're all .right." "ROUGH* RIDERS" MOAH BEERY was recently cast m ** one of the most important roles m
"The Rough Riders," the epic story of Theodore Roosevelt and his regiment m the Spanish- American war. Beery will play the part of "Hell's Bells,", th c western sheriff who joins the regiment m order to be near his man, who has escaped from gaol and- enlisted a few jumps ahead of the. sheriff. THE"BEERYS"
THIS Beery family have ' been de-
veloping of late. . Once the acknowledged villains of the screen, they are now bidding for comedy honors. Wallace has made a hit with "Behind " The Front" . and "We're in the Navy Now." Noah, now, has started playing comedy roles. , . „ His first is in "The Rough Riders^ and the second in "Evening Clothes," Adolphe Menjou's new picture.
