SHE GALLOPS
-■ Damaris is Green, But Wait ■ The grass around the countryside at the present time is anything but the right hue. QRASS should be green, and- that is an apt way to describe the actions of a two-year-old called Damaris. , A half-sister to Lysander is quite enough m her favor, ahd she lives up to the family record of ,galloping; . ' . y ; Still a horse has to know something about the business before it can win. and , though Damaris won the second day at Wanganui there is no gainsaying the fact that she is green. The first day she did not know what was wanted of her, and even on the second the odds were that she would be left at the jump away. Left .she was, but 'by. the. time her rider got her into the stride he must have known he had the;' race m his pocket. Down the very short straight the Limond filly stretched out m glorious fashion and she won, but not by much. ' When seasoned, and knowing what •is wanted of her, the best of the year will have to go to keep her m sight.
